Romantic Italian Recipes for the Perfect Valentine’s Dinner
Valentine’s Day or not, nothing says “I love you” like a homemade Italian feast.
This year, surprise someone special with a romantic dinner that’s straight from the heart (and the kitchen!). My recipes are simple to follow but packed with incredible flavour, so you can impress without the stress. Light some candles, pour a glass of wine, and hit play on my videos while you cook up a special meal to remember!
Antipasto: Classic Italian Bruschetta
They say the best relationships are built on strong foundations—well, the same goes for your romantic Italian menu. What better way to start than with a classic Italian bruschetta? Simple, fresh, and bursting with flavour, this is the ideal way to kick off your meal, plus the juicy red tomatoes are on theme colour-wise so how can you resist?
Crispy charred bread, juicy sun-ripened tomatoes, a drizzle of golden extra virgin olive oil, and a hint of garlic, every bite is a balance of textures and flavours, just like the perfect love story. A great start and simple to make so don’t be nervous, you can’t go wrong!

Main: Pasta Vongole
If romance had a flavour, it would be Pasta Vongole (mainly because it’s my favourite pasta dish and I consider myself to be quite the romantic). This classic seafood dish is simple yet luxurious, combining fresh vongole (clams), garlic, parsley, and perfectly al dente spaghetti.
The secret? The clams do all the work. As they steam open, they release their natural, briny juices, creating a sauce that’s light, garlicky, and packed with Mediterranean flavour. I also add my secret ingredient—a squeeze of fresh lemon—to balance the richness and take it to the next level. One bite, and you’ll feel like you’re having a romantic dinner by the sea in Positano, with the waves crashing in the background.

Finale: Nonna Maria’s Baked Ricotta Cake
This dessert is the definition of amore (love)! My mother-in-law, Nonna Maria, has been making this ricotta cake for generations, and let me tell you, it disappears so quickly at every family gathering. Light, creamy, and just the right amount of sweet, it’s a dessert that is sure to impress.
Made with fresh whole-milk ricotta, eggs, vanilla, lemon zest, and a hint of cinnamon, this cake is like a cheesecake’s elegant Italian cousin—lighter, fluffier, and packed with flavour. The biscuit base adds the perfect crunch, while a dusting of chocolate and fresh strawberries make it look as good as it tastes. And the best part? It’s make-ahead friendly, so you can prepare it in advance and focus on enjoying your romantic dinner.
